Methodology & Independence.
The Institute of Biofeedback was founded to cut through the marketing noise of the consumer wearable industry and provide a strictly data-driven evaluation of clinical biofeedback modalities.
Our Stance on Wearables
We do not review consumer-grade smartwatches or fitness trackers (e.g., Apple Watch, Oura, Whoop). While valuable for general wellness tracking, their optical PPG sensors and low sampling rates render them incapable of the precise, artifact-free inter-beat interval (IBI) detection required for clinical Resonance Frequency training. Our evaluations strictly focus on hardware capable of meeting BCIA standards.
Financial Independence
To maintain absolute neutrality:
- We do not accept direct sponsorship or advertising from hardware manufacturers.
- We do not participate in affiliate programs for clinical equipment.
- Our data is sourced from FDA 510(k) clearances, peer-reviewed literature, and independent lab testing of the amplifiers.
